Suspension Set Up DDC

Tim, how much did that set up cost you?


I'm still deliberating to carry on with the DDC or fit my Bitubo once I get a fork sleeve.
My mechanics swear by the gen 3 DDC but can't set it up. I've been on track a few times recently and can't say I noticed anything good or bad apart from good tyre wear but I'm not pushing it just yet as still getting back up to pace following accident last year and oh yeah cold track temps.
Looked into the front pot but ain't spending nearly ?500 plus set up when I've got Bitubo anyway but would like to get it set up properly and test it more before stripping it off.
I'm 80kg without gear so don't even know if stock spring will suit but I usually use 9.5 spring (that's as far as I go with suspension knowledge lol)
MCT is within distance to me but guessing he's fully booked at this time of year, anyone recommended anyone for set up nearer London?

He's highly rated but that comes with a waiting list. Got my Bitubo fully serviced by HM but then the set up with them was steep at over ?100 [emoji848]

I ran the front Pot sensor in Portimao on DDC and it definitely made a difference in my confidence in the bike. I was recovering from injury so not the best time to compare but I was a lot happier with the front end than the last time on a similar track which was Brands Hatch a few years back. Incidently I dont actually know if it just gives you the seperate control of compression and rebound or if it also means the suspension ECU calculates the dampening changes in a better way?

The Mupo suspension I have now is definitely a lot better on track but I'm a fan of the DDC if the bike is being used on the road as well.

My understanding is that in addition to providing independent rebound and compression damping control, it also provides another channel of information to the ECU, which would affect the DDC performance.

By default, DDC uses the rear potentiometer (and other parameters) for determining damping on the fly, so I would assume the 2D front sensor can add to this

Cheers Oli, thats what I was expecting as it definitely felt different with the Pot sensor on the front but I was still a bit of a physical mess from crashing a few months before so hard to tell what was causing it.

It allows you to adjust them in the settings menu - I'd hope that actually means they are being adjusted in the fork?

Anyone know the usual price for a respring?. Can mottrrad dealers do it? Dont think weve many suspension specialists here in N.IRe Just adjusted my preload as per the manual. And im just too light on the front. Ive the adjuster wound right out. The rear ive got to 10mm which is in the middle.

Yes it does. The ECU takes the data from the extra channel and allows the bike to calculate fork position. It helps contribute to the better front end feel that you get with one fitted in addition to being able to separately adjust the compression and rebound stages of the front suspension.

Anyone know the usual price for a respring?. Can mottrrad dealers do it? Dont think weve many suspension specialists here in N.IRe Just adjusted my preload as per the manual. And im just too light on the front. Ive the adjuster wound right out. The rear ive got to 10mm which is in the middle.

Budget around ?300. It?s highly unlikely that your local BMW dealership will be able to do it for you, or be able to help you with setup. Your best off finding a suspension specialist in your area.
