Tank side panel removal

I?ve got the side tank parts in carbon, so I need to transfer the small painted sections, off the standard black plastic and onto the carbon parts. The sections are held on with the standard usual awkward, almost impossible to remove clips that cause you to damage the painted section.
Has anyone successfully removed the painted parts with damaging it? Could they tell me how? I?ve been looking for a tool to remove the clips grip on the flimsy plastic tabs, surely every clip designed must have a tool to remove its grip?
I have seen a video on YouTube, where a guy removes them but he doesn?t really show you him doing it, he just says it was difficult.

The tabs on the coloured plastic part do "simply " pull out. Find one by inching your fingers round to find a tight spot where its fastened and easy it out. They are always harder the first time. I think there are 3 each panel
