?20 for a test ride?! Never heard of that before..I test rode a GSA at Balderston BMW Pboro for 2 hours on my favourite roads, then found the one I wanted at Park Lane which coincided with me being in London on business, so I gave it a look over and bought it. The guy I dealt with down there was fine but they aren't your typical bike dealer, maybe they charge to keep away the riff raff!!

I got charged ?750 for a test ride of a fireblade. But then it did only go back to them in the back of a van lol  - Sent from Mobile Device

Isn't the ?20 charge optional? to waiver any excess in the case of an incident? Thats what I heard anyway - dunno if theres truth to it?

Jeffries do that.
No other dealer I've used does it, but perhaps in London also?

Just paid ?246 for my 6000 mile service knocked them down from ?275 fookin expensive I thought

It should be one price across the board these dealers change what they want by the looks

I spoke to Bowker at preston regarding the servicing and they said the price across the board is exactly the same (which i believe is BS) anyway they said that if you have recently done some of the service work yourself or at another garage IE pads, filters, oil change then they can alter the price to suit.

I just told them that I had been quoted ?150 by the dealer I bought it from but wanted to use them as closer and new and they said they would match the price. I very thing that was due to be changed was changed and they play polished the tank for me where it had a bit of a blemish on it, on the check list they gave me back they had altered my tyre pressures back to 36/42 from 32/34 and slacked my chain of as was to tight , I had said quick shifter seamed harsh so is now slack as **** again and looks like it is going to fall of but Q/S is smoother so can't complain.

I called East Kilbride last week and was quoted ?179 which includes my discount as this is where I bought the bike last year.

Interesting that this appeared as i am due to get my bike serviced at the end of this month so I booked it into my local BMW dealer.

My bike has had it's PDI service, 600 mile, and then an annual one this time last year having done 3000 miles, the bike is a smidge over 5000 miles at the moment and so it's getting an annual.

What i found strange was that i got asked if the previous dealer had changed the brake fluid last year when it got serviced, naturally i didn't know so they rang the dealer and then rang me to say that the previous dealer couldn't confirm whether or not it got done (as it should be on it's first annual service) so naturally they want to do it on this service obviously adding more cost to it.

My first question to them was whether or not it was standard practice for a BMW dealership not to change the brake fluid and if it was also standard practice for them not to keep records of what has been done on a service, particularly if this dealership does (as they all should!) and given that the brake fluid is actually spotless and is showing no signs of discolouration whatsoever (it actually looks like it probably was changed this time last year with it only having done 2K miles) would it really get changed?

I was actually a bit miffed to hear that that they would have to change it to keep the warranty going (to be expected) but they had no explanation or idea as to why another BMW dealership would not have kept a record of what was done when it was serviced, or more importantly why they "assume" that other dealers do not service as per BMW's technical procedures and change the brake fluid when it is supposed to be done, thus ensuring the warranty remains intact.

I have to say it just smacks of trying to score another ?40 for the sake of it to me :D

Proposed cost of the annual service, including an air filter as they want to treat it like a 6000 service ?200-?240 (?240 with the brake fluid change).

Thankfully my warranty runs out in November as i'll stick to doing what i normally do and service them myself after that :)

You will have to find a way of resetting the service light this time next year. Mine came on the day before the service and was bloody bright and difficult to ignore.

Mick, I always stick a K&N lifetime filter in all my bikes, whenever I get them. Not for any power gains but so the dealer doesn't add another extra on to the service, I always tell them to deduct the price of the filter once I have a quote for the service with filter change. It seems to be a habit with some to grab a few tenners out you pocket whilst you are enjoying their Cappuccinos.

During the service they discovered the head stock nut was loose and needed tightening, although the check is part of the service, to tighten it up they charge you extra lol I never paid for that that's how I got it down from ?275
