Do brake fluid yourself. Good tubing on the bleed nipple and other end in jam jar. Squeeze brake lever and loosen bleed valve. Close valve before lever touches bar, check resevoir still has fluid in then repeat. When fluid is near bottom of resevoir (emphasis on near NOT empty) top up with new. Keep going until until fluid changes colour then switch sides. Never let resevoir empty, and don't release lever before tightening valve or you'll get air in. 10-15 minute job. Always use good quality fluid.

I agree gixxerchuck ...Halfords sell a small bleed kit in the MC section costs 5 quid.. I stripped and bled calipers last year on my 10R used the bleed bottle...worked perfectly tubing locks firmly over nipple allowing you to concentrate on fluid level in the MC whilst pressing lever and opening nipple to expel old fluid...best ?5 I've spent.. Actually come to think of it I'm sure there's a non return valve built in so need to open and shut nipple...

Sounds easy enough to do I guess - even with the ABS? I come from a C-ABS Fireblade and wouldn't go near a bleed nipple on that as good as the bike was.

Think the bleeding is no different Billo... abs or not....ill completely replace my bf fluid in my hp this year.. whether it needs it or not..just one of those mental things that wee bleed kit is great 5.99 it is now.

The fireblade brake bleed with abs is 12 pages long in the workshop manual and takes Honda techs 4hrs to complete !!
Took me 8hrs and a severe headache to do my wife's blade, will sell the bloody thing before I do it again

The ABS unit on the S1000rr is nice and simple - the fluid flows straight through it with no bleed nipples on the unit and the brakes aren't linked so there's nothing to worry about when bleeding - just follow the instructions others have posted in this thread and you're done :)

Oh that's a shame, it should take you directly to a BMW technicians phone. Apparently she always works naked, except in February when she dons a special Valentines set of lingerie, she specialises in brakes on HP4s, and is doing free servicing in Dumbarton today, but only until dinner time.

In the real world it's a fancy set of nipples for your bike, they are A1. But I know what image you would rather have in your head!!

Youll see them when you log in on a computer.

Hi,
Just asked the same thing at BMW Preston and was told £150 as not as much work as 1st service but needs brake fluid changed so maybe worth ringing about and playing one of against another.

Dean

I phoned Bowker in Preston and they quoted me ?175 for the service. Contacted my local dealer and they've matched it and told me they'll do a free collection and delivery service as well, so a result for me.

Cheers all

Bought my GSA from Park Lane a couple of weeks ago, not the best place to test ride any bike never mind an S1000!

That's good, think should always play one of against another. Where are you going to take it?

Least you find out they are good in traffic ;)

Taft was one of the reasons testing it there. I will be using the new bike every day to commute into London, so wanted to know how it was filtering.....

I did a 16 mile round trip will HelRazer to the Ace Cafe ... Only took 2 hrs .... What a joke !!! But a big grin from start to finish....oh and by the way, did everyone get charged ?20 for a test ride?
