Re: Get the kleenex ready...

nah, never thought it'd be worth serious dollar just yet. Having googled a bit, cars like mine are for sale at about the 10k mark, which is 4 times what I paid for it not too long back. Maybe another 10 years eh ? :)

Re: Get the kleenex ready...

Question is - next year - will it and the SuperLeggy be legal for BSB? (sans electronic - well...except in SuperStock)

Re: Get the kleenex ready...

As much as I think this bike is ridiculous, and a ridiculous cost for bolt on equipment less the frame. I completely appreciate why it has been done. I have seriously considered using my savings to buy one if it could be bought with the race team discount. There must be enough rich idiots out there to want one once the build quantity is done. But it's a lot of risk. Ry you want to see if any pals would tax free one :):)

I suspect it will never be raced and sadly you'll be highly unlikely to ever see one. It will definitely not be raced in SSTK as you can build a competitive S1000RR to go racing with for as little as ?23,000. That said the next generation of S1000RR should be a very interesting proposition. I would certainly love to own one if I had a spare ?68,000.

My contacts say that the 2019 s1000 is a total revamp, down to every last nut and bolt.... Cost? who knows lol !!

I've heard the same from numerous paddock sources. Nothing for 2018, but something new for 2019.

Re: Get the kleenex ready...

Sadly,it will also be euro5-ready!
Personally, like last time,I think we'll see a HP4 road version first, with carbon frame and a few gizmos, which will be homologated and eligible for racing.

Got your name down? ;)

Re: Get the kleenex ready...

Well,I'll probably be looking for a new bike next year!
Also depends how much-at least it'll be under ?28k for homologation.
But there are other manufacturers out there-apart from Honda!

Re: Get the kleenex ready...

Got a call today from my caring sharing dealer offering me the opportunity to own one of these bikes in the not too distant future.

So based on my man maths if all forum subs are increased to about ?10 per week that should cover it lol. Ok?

Needless to say I politely declined the ownership offer. But if anyone has a burning desire to own a track only ?68k s1000rr give AJ a call and ask for Simon, he's a good guy.

HP4 Race

Was in the dealer today discussing various things and the conversation turned to the hp4 race. Bizarre but it does not have a registration (V5) because it's not road legal so insurance is interesting.

New rr will be 2019.

Insurance

Insurance would be fairly simple and done in the same way as any other race bike. The only difference is you would just use a specialist motorsports broker.
