Re: Winter Workshop

Rear wheel recoated and immediately fucked it up with Loctite..didn't realise the bottle had fallen over after I knocked in the bearings my phone went, punter with a broken down boiler...by the time I got back the damage was done...arghhhhh...

Dressed up back disc, 5mm on it with 4.5 service limit, no point in changing. Fitted Brembo pressure switch, heel guards don't fit these pegs, emailed Omnia Racing loads, these people are pure assholes, don't buy anything from them, typically they reply 4 days later and tell you to send to another person in Omnia..you know rather than passing it to that person..unbelievable, so I gave up after 10 days......anyhow if the heel guard did fit the top of the M/C and pressure switch are badly exposed...any views on this ?... the guard fouls the M/C..

Rear reservoir was full of shit, so bled it through with cheap DOT4 and flushed that out with Motul..pedal feels brilliant.

Pair of Power RS 5s is that what their called ? look good on that rim....

Whipped off stand, need to replace some grommets and the spring..ordered tonight from Cradely Kawasaki who by the way has a superb parts dept linked to the online Kawasaki parts catalogue.. this is my 5th order, so far they have had everything in stock and next day delivery, service is amazing...anyhow any recs on heel guards guys ?.

Re: Winter Workshop

Stand return spring, cut off switch mount kit, new Rose joint on gear linkage and LHS peg fitted...wow what a difference in feel on the whole set up, nice and tight with the only slight play being as it should be in the joints...

Decided to use the LHS heel guard on the RHS, will have to reshape and drill to fit.. 320 mm discs with fitting kit on the way !...

Re: Winter Workshop

I managed to take 7kg off the sv650 over the winter. Brings it to 163kg fueled and ready for a race.

And then I removed a further 2kg as I slid out of turn 2. And discovered my pretty rearsets have the strength of cheese. Ses rearsets on the way for me. ????

Re: Winter Workshop

Had to make do with using one of the OE heel guards to protect that Brembo pressure switch... opted for the smaller one which was gear side, elongated one of the cheeseholes and took the bottom left corner out, creased that part in my vice and filed smooth, doesnt look brilliant but it works... added a tank protector and my OCD kicked in, replaced the scruffy chain advice sticker...it's important that lol... picked up Silicate coolant in error from Halfords, so that goes back tomorrow [emoji849]

Re: Winter Workshop

Going over everything.

Lightweight rear disk.
Alot of titanium bolts.
Cutting off now unused frame tabs
Removing rear reservoir for tube.
Lithium battery.
Smaller front reservoir.
Remaking parts like battery tray
Making exhaust and fairing hangers out of titanium.

Theres more little bits I went for the save a gram thought and see what it comes to after

Re: Winter Workshop

So refreshed the ZX with coolant, bled thru and ran up to temp, fan cut in...everything dandy, by a weird turn of fate a boxing pal came to see me, my HP4 was sitting out front as I had taken her out which was first time since my winter overhaul... he pointed to the RHS fairing and engine cover... "whats all that Blue stuff"... he knows nothing about bikes or cars !... so I have a coolant leak arghhhhh...
Whatsapped Stevie the tech..he said it could be the expansion cap.... anyhow ran out of time as din dins arrived...swapped bikes over and put HP4 on my ramp, need to check in morning... this happen to anyone else ?

Re: Winter Workshop

No iv lost about 4.5kg myself. Would be more but injured my shoulder thai boxing. Aiming for 77/78kg at 6 foot tall.

Funny thing thing is that's still with Bogga spec cast wheels. Cos we have to keep them
