Agree with the advice above, assuming you haven't gone beserk scrubbing degreaser into your hot after a run frame (!) have you asked the dealer to explain why MucOff, which is widely used by all motorcyclists in the UK including other BMW owners, has caused the problem on your particular bike as you would assume they would be snowed under with warranty claims from other S1000 owners if that was the case? Clearly that isn't the case, so there must be more to the problem which you'd appreciate their help in getting to the bottom of as you love the bike, will want to buy future bikes from them etc etc..

Good advice MacRR, thank you. No scrubbing frame after a hot run etc.

Latest update is that a BMW Technician has viewed the bike and decision remains that MUC Off has caused the problem.
No warranty claim is available.
Options offered are carbon frame covers at best price they can get me.
Get the frame resprayed
Love the bike and to be fair the guys at Benham BMW are doing their best.
However BMW's stance will not change and I am feeling totally fed up with the whole thing.
Feel like selling the bike

To me that is totally out of order. It's not a common issue so wouldn't be a big commercial problem to help you out. If that's the final offer then I'd be inclined to contact Muc Off (which I think you did already). I personally doubt it is due to muc off, I suspect BMW are the culprit because the paint isn't up to the job on this occasion. As a premium product you would reasonably expect it to last a few years at least. Too many people use muc off for it to cause issues with paintwork and not be common knowledge. Take qualified advice if you can because I'd be thinking of formally rejecting the bike if your options are as you describe.

Have you spoken to Citizens Advice yet? I think you need to up the ante now as BMW's response is unacceptable. I've used Muc Off cleaner and degreaser exclusively on both the RR's I've owned with no issues at all and would happily put that in writing.

Hi Thank you for the photos, I have used them and think it will be a great help.
let you know what happens
To be honest they've said nothing as I never got round to reporting it. If you want to use my.photos in support feel free; they were taken 4 hours after buying it and before any products whatsoever were applied to the bike..

I am going to be contacting them today

Totally agree with you, the fight continues

Any update on this buddy !! A proper formal "without prejudice" letter to the general manager with any correspondence from Muc off is the way to go, it's upto them to prove it was the cleaning liquid that caused the problem as far as you're concerned it's a faulty item and it goes back, end of , just because it's expensive matters not buddy

Slick mode ... It's the new legal high !!

I sent a tweet out there advising people that own BMW's, use Muc Off and have a paint issue, that BMW will invalidate the warranty.
Much Off have been in touch re possibly seeking "deformation of brand" from BMW.
Will also consult credit card company re section 75 of the consumer credit act 1974, as I did place a ?500 deposit for the bike on my credit card.
a worthwhile consideration for all when buying a new bike, put some of the payment on your card (anything over ?100 gives you protection I understand)
let you know what happens

Saga continues, now need an independent paint report doing for the credit card company, and a price to rectify the fault.
Not sure how I can do that when the bike would need stripping down completely.
Have been advised that BMW have had paint issues due to some work contracted out, although all being denied by BMW
Also a few wheel bearing issues I have been told.
Feel like this has been going on forever
Love the bike, disillusioned with BMW

Probably worth calling someone well know in the bike painting business like dream machine to see if they can advise?
