Hello gents
I have a 2012 that's just developed an issue with the immobiliser with the red then yellow warning triangle coming up on the dash board when I first turn on the ignition
I rang BMW assist to find that is only valid for 2 years and it ran out 6 months ago !!!
Bank recovery service won't touch bikes !!
So I'm had to arrange a lift home and leave it in a friends unit

I tried the spare key and also the emergency plastic key but same symptoms

Anybody got any ideas please what to do before I ring the local BMW dealer and have my pants down???
I'm in the burton/derby area
Also is it still in warranty is it 2 or 3 years ???

Helllllllllpppppp

you only get 2 years warranty as standard you get the option to extend it at your cost on a yearly basis

What you describe could be anything. It could be as simple as a battery issue or the key reader module failed, but it needs to go in for diagnosis by a dealer. If it turns out to be a 'common' fault you might be able to get some goodwill towards the repair from bmw uk even though the warranty has expired. Either way you will probably need to prepare some lube... Good luck.

Well just had the call from Pidcocks BMW turns out its a faulty starter switch
All replaced and no charge as a good will gesture perfect ending to what could have been a problem
Thanks to all that took the time to read or reply

Good news for you. Switch gear are being replaced FOC until October, I think. Usually the dealer replaces both sides so the bike has the revised versions.
