Anyone interested in shares

I've a SIPP which has done quite well for what I put in at the start.

Anyone on here dabble in the stock market...Im thinking of some penny stocks on AIM... I used to take a regular punt.. so Im sitting on some cash in it and up for a deal... anyone do the same ?

Thanks Alex...pennies are always volatile... I'm going to take a punt on a few I've just looked them up...fancy a punt on Sirus... Been looking at Rockhopper and Clontarf.

Ive been in SXX for a few years now, bought in at 12p originally and topped up again at 19p a few months ago, another that has done well for me is Sound oil (SOU), i wont go into the list of negative shares i have lol, another that may be worth a punt the now is Petrofac they took a big drop in the last on alleged fraud case but to big a company to go down and think they will go back up.

I can't remember when I bought SXX but they were when the company was in North Dakota, not North Yorkshire! I need to buy a house...trying to decide if I should stay in till they build it.

RockHopper - man when they went to the Falklands first time it went mental. But then GKP have gone mental before. Oil is very hard to get right, the times you win are usually far eclipsed by the times you lose. BPC have never been allowed to drill, so finding oil isn't going to happen till the Bahamas govt allow it.

Mining and Energy are where I used to look but I've not been actively paying attention and researching for a while.

Im convinced I bought Dana Petroleum and Emerald Energy years ago and sold them soon after. I cant find the transaction notes so not 100pc certain. They hit the big time.. maybe its just wishful thinking....

Ahhh...Dana. I made some money from that. The guy that created Dana moved on to another oil company.....that one aint doing so well. And dont talk to me about Afren, directors stole all the money, and institutional investors who 'rescued' it took all the rest. C-nuts, all of them...

Yup. Found a newspaper article where an Irish pensioner thanked Tom for turning ?400 into ?720,000! It took 14 years, and I'm very patient.....

When i bought them about 4-5 years ago they done well to begin with then the oil slump happened but like you say Mr Cross has a good track recored and over the last few years he has taken all the high flyers from his Dana days with him so i think they are a good long term prospect, one of my many long term shares that will come good fingers crossed lol

Remember I thought I had purchased Dana Petroleum... I had...800 ... I found a statement fron 2002 priced at 0.1325... value 106 quid... I cant remember selling them tho I have a niggling feeling !. Dana closed at a penny or so of 18 quid on friday.. making this a lot of dough... Ill have to wait till Monday to see if I still hold them anywhere .

I read a book called the naked trader which gave a really good insight into trading shares, altho he does advise against pennies shares and taking " a punt"
His points being if you buy penny shares at say 8p a share, for you to double your money, its like a ?2 share reaching ?4, which does not happen often.
Must be a reason why their shares are only pennies?
Anyway http://nakedtrader.co.uk is where he lives and I would recommend looking at his books, audiobooks etc
