You can open an account with a broker like redmayne Bentley either on or off line. I think most banks also offer a share trading portal these days.

Try interactive investor for information.. buy a couple of books to get a handle on the terminology and a copy of the FT... have a look over the share prices... pick some companies and do research on them.

Word to the wise. Everyone on the 'discussion' pages for places like III.co.uk has an angle. They are all motivated in one way or another. This means that what they spout maybe, true, a guess, wishful thinking, lies.

Research the company and the industry, not the discussion on it.

Anyone bought anything recently... I had a tip on MMX..and took a punt.. also a small ground engineering firm called Van Elle... family run business.. solid credentials. Money in bank and good contracts in pipeline I bought in at just under a quid..anyone else.
