I started to get worried when I rode my bike without earplugs - a lot of the noise gets drowned with those. Ignorance is bliss but arguably better to know...
Be interested to hear what a dealer makes of your bike.

Haha yeah thats what I'm doing, Bought an Austin hopefully wont hear it again...I'm just so picky with all this stuff
I previously owned 3 Aprilia SXV's and sold them each time cause I got so paranoid about stupid things and MOST of them were fine, One blew up on me :(

The part of the engine was on the left side near the oil level sight, You could see the sealant peel away but then again I have no idea how long it's been like that could be very old.

Good man. Im more of a road rider, so form over function was my choice. Its understandable when you pay a premium!

Would love one of those SXVs! but id be the same and would never want to thrash it!

As everyone as mentioned, more than likely chain spatter. Just keep monitoring for now ( what chain lubricant do you use?)

Seems to be ticking in lower gears and doesnt tick in 4th +

Maybe I just can't hear cause I'm going faster though

I suspect you're correct and simply can't hear it in the higher gears at higher speed. The SThou's are buzzy, noisy lumps and are different to Jap I4's in this respect, it's part of the character as far as I am concerned.

Only thing I noticed from the photo, is that you might want to top up your oil a bit, as I have found I've had less can chain tensioner noise when the oil is near the top, or at the top of the sight glass when the bike is cold and upright

Oil level is fine Oli thank you, That photo was taken when bike was not straight

When your next in London mind meeting up? Would love to compare sounds.

It's really bugging me :(
Like when I pull away in 1st and the revs drop it's all I can hear, I'm getting so annoyed about it now it is all I can hear

I'm glad you posted this post as I'm paranoid about the sound too
Just glad everyone says their bikes sound as bad as mine

Does yours sound exactly the same? Can you still hear it even with your Austin?

I have a full Akra Evo System (the new style), and my bike sounds identical to yours, I honestly couldn't notice a difference. If anything, I'd say mine is louder (with regard to ticking).

Every time I start mine, I get a 1-2 second Cam Chain rattle (very loud), which goes away and your left with the ticking/clattering noises as in your video

I think you're going to have to accept that the exhaust control flaps are noisy, it's not suprising as it must all run in a constant stream of hot dry gas! As far as I know it's only there to control the noise from the exhaust, masking it by making even more racket through an aftermarket slip on de-cat whatever is a waste of $$$ in my opinion. There may well be another problem if the servo that controls the flaps is not working as per the original design, but the exhaust internals are not going to sound slick or silent, they're always going to rattle, have you heard a dry clutch on a Ducati?? Sounds like a bag of nails....but nothing wrong, at least within reason. I'm London based, happy to meet up at Boxhill or whatever to compare rackets, set your mind at rest so you can enjoy your bike. Failing that, visit a dealer or wear earplugs and ignore! As long as it's making power and has a smooth delivery, I wouldn't worry!

It sounds fine, they're noisy, especially at lower rpms. The way I think of it is that they're not designed to run at 1000 rpm.. it's designed to run at 10+

Exactly, if you're using it for what it was designed for, you'll benefit from the open exhaust (when the flaps are open). If not, then, it's going to rattle as the flaps will be rattling around trying to limit the noise and maximise the efficiency at low rpm. You can't have it both ways!

Yea that's one draw back to a decat system with no exup valves, the first few thousand rpm's are less usable due to the lack of back pressure, so there is a benefit to keeping the valves active particularly if you do a lot of city riding
