As a direct answer-Yes I have had 10's in 12' and vice versa.BUT,there have been issues with spacers/sprocket carriers so it pays to check.
My theory is that at some stage they used a different manufacturer(probably Chinese!)for some of the sprocket carriers
Of course,if you used your existing sprocket carrier,in theory you shouldn't have a problem.
