Hi all, might be a daft question, but had a quick look through the owners manual and can't find an answer.

If I insert the slick plug on the bike, which is a 2015 sport but not the pro optioned one. Does slick work? It shows up on the dash start up, but not giving the option after the start up sequence.

Maybe not an avail option, but then why would they include the plug?

Cheers chaps.

Phooey.

Unless the bike is specced with Ride Modes Pro (either as part of the performance package, or as an individual option) it will only have the 3 basic modes - Rain, Sport and Race.
Why you were given the plug if you do not have the pro modes would seem to be anyone's guess.

I'm not that clued up on the 2015 bikes but only having 3 basic modes and not being able to have slick mode does not sound right

I bought mine with "Rider modes pro". I had Rain, Sport and Race mode until the 1st service. The garage fitted the plug during this service and I rode out with extra Slick and User modes.

Might have a chat with the dealer, odd that it highlights SLICK mode on the start menu if it's not going to be available. I've checked the male prongs on the plug are straight and the plugs clicking home in the connector.

I've had an S1K before and had no issues with the plug. According to the owners manual, you can actually insert the SLICK plug before the rev limiter is removed at the first service, which actually gives full power, BUT..... Voids your warranty!

Inserting slick plug before first service doesn?t remove rev limiter, trust me I know.

Just re-read the owners manual, pg 56 says bikes with reduced power will, when the coding plug is inserted have increased engine power and all riding modes available. Also says homologation voided for the road.

I'm guessing this means bike of reduced power due to their market, as opposed to pre first service bikes then?

Went into the dealers to pick up a tank pad ?37!!!!!!! They said the slick plug only works on the pro bikes. No idea why mine had a plug with the pack, just teasing me......

Thats how I would interpret that, I agree.

I am really surprised by that though, slick has always been on the bikes, seems bizarre not to have it, it's only software?

so if this is the case does that mean an older bike with slick mode is actually a better more aggressive, less intrusive bike than a 15 sport???

The "Rider Modes Pro" cannot be retro fitted to the 15 S1000 I believe. When you have the RMP you have Rain, Sport and Race modes. After the 1st service the dealer removes the 600 mile restriction and installs the RMP plug. You then have Rain, Sport, Race, Slick and User mode.
