Been quoted 220 quid for 3m paint protection film, supplied and fitted. Same guy is saying about ?80 to fit the xpel pack, if I supply it.

Has anyone had any experience removing the film? I was thinks no I might have a go at getting the xpel kit and fitting myself And remove it if I make an arse of it.

s1000rr runs hot anyway nowt to do with rad guards total load of B/S , average temp people ride in is prob 15 deg,
Yes my dealer told me they don't recommend them
but I bought a new blade in 09 3 weeks after buying it ,I put a hole in rad ?585 later decided on rad guard
i have rad guards on my 15 s1000rr and temp seems fine 😀
It runs a bit hot when hammering it,but the blade did the same before rad guard
when I'm cruising temp is normal ,so I won't be getting rid of gourds anytime soon

I never bother as you get same money when trade bikes in anyway I like to send the shop trashed .

U were quoted ?220? I was quoted ?90 for kit that they would fit for ?70
so was your kit covering whole bike . Not just leading edges?

They didn't specify what the kit would cover. Looking about and looks like 90 for the kit is about right, 130 for fitting seemed a bit steep.
I'm in the north of Scotland, and doesn't appear to be many people doing it up this way, so a captive market. I think I'm going to give it a go myself, just waiting to hear back about from the American site on first page of thread about the x-pel kit. X-pel seems to be more forgiving than 3m venture sheild for the unexperienced fitter, from what I've been reading.

That's the X-pel Ultimate kit ordered from the states

http://thetankslapper.biz/s1000rr-total-protection-kit-2015-2016/

They've now added on an option to include the optional pieces for the side fairings. Ordered a couple of squeegees as well, all in with delivery ?125. I'll post update when it arrives and i attempt to fit it.

Now to get crash bungs and rad guards ordered....

Huge thanks to Certi for the link above

Hi Allan, I've got the kit and the bike here now, but not had a chance to tackle it yet. Got the bike last Thursday, off the ferry and put it in the shed, not touched it since. Hopefully get time this weekend to get it cleaned up and fit all the bits and pieces, then get a few miles on it. Looking forward to trying it on roads I know, but place has been crawling with unmarked cars all week

I heard they had a few unmarked cars up there last week, Just picked my own bike the day so need to get the tyres scrubbed in the morrow and see what it like then!!!! the more i look at the bike the harder i think the Xpel protection is going to be to fit!!!!! Think i will wait and see how you get on first :friendly_wink:

Quick update on the Xpel kit. Finally got round to starting to fit it at the weekend. The quality of the material seems very good, and it is relatively easy to fit, using the correct xpel gel, although very time consuming getting all the bubbles out from under the stickers. The fit of the kit is also very good, and is near invisible now.

The only downside to the kit i can see is there is no protection for the lower fairing/belly pan. This is rather disappointing, as this area will get battered with stone chips on the roads where i live. The council have been doing there annual chip and spray on all the good roads on the island for the last couple of weeks!

Does anyone know if the venture shield kit has protection for the lower fairing, if so i think i might try getting this. Had the bike a couple of months now, but have only managed a couple of afternoons out on it due to other commitments.

I don't think any of the places make film for the lower fairing as it's not painted.

There's a 3M spray on protector which could be used on the leading edge of the lower fairings.

I have the venture shield on my HP4 and it is very good at protecting the paint.

I have tried the spray on 3M venture shield and would NOT recommend it. Horrible stuff and a pain to remove.

It holds up pretty well as its a slight rubberised texture.
I've no chips or marks on mine from the road and a slide into the kitty litter only put slight marks on it which can only be seen on close examination.

I've messaged that chip guard crowd asking if they will supply just the lower fairing protection, as I don't want to have to buy another full kit.

We were looking at the finish on the panel wondering if it was more of a wrap than paint, and if that was the reason.

Every bike I've ever had ends up peppered round the front of the belly pan!
