Approved or not I?ve used it on several new motorcycles including my s1krr and never had any issues. I suspect bmw want you to buy their expensive cleaning products.

Muc Off is definitely not approved by BMW, i speak from experience
Although proven not to be the Muc Off in the end, I now stick to the BMW cleaners.
Can get them online in bulk for just as cheap as Muc Off and they work really well
