Hi all,

I've had my 10 plate S1krr for about 6 months now. Only been out on it handful of times due toi the longest winter ever! Great bike but I've encountered my first issue!

Dreaded left hand switch gear has started playing up! cant cancel signals, no horn or full beam. I'm looking into prices for replacement. Has anyone got a guide on how to remove? Does the grip have to come off? I've got aftermarket datatool heated grips on (came with bike) so not sure how to remove them.

Also on a side note Major service is due. Bike has a full dealer history but I cant afford there price. Anyone know any specialist's in the Yorkshire area?

Speak to Stephen from Grahams Motorcycles. He is your man for all that and fixes switch gear.

Cheers Pal. Its so annoying. Auto cancel is working but changing lanes im having to put hazards on & off!!!

Welcome Jonesy, hope you get is sorted, @stephen is good at fixing them.

Hi Jonesy, welcome to the site. Hope you get the bike fine tuned mate, the switchgear is a known weak point on some bikes but is an easy fix.

Hope you like sunshine cause this summer is going to be a belter.

Welcome to the forum Jonesy, I dont want to do Stephen out of work but , I had both of my Switch gear replaced on my 2010 bike when it was 4 years out of warranty and it was free from charge. I am surprised that a dealer wont do this for you as it is a known fault and you have full service history.

Good luck either way mate.

Hi Phil. That was my first port of call but Rainbow BMW in Rotherham (my local dealership) said its not a recall issue & I'd be charged for new unit & labor etc. The only reason why I looked else where. the funny thing is my bike has a full dealer history (partly with them), I would have continued at the expense but now i'm going to go down a specialist route. My 18k service is due very soon as well.

Response is that they are aware of no such issues, never been a recall so what the dealer said would stand. Loyalty stands for nothing. Oh well. I need to get in garage to remove for Steve

Hi steve,

They are correct, there has NEVER been a recall for switchgear. For a number of years bmw replaced faulty switchgear out of warranty as a gesture of goodwill but I think that ended in 2014/5 (not exactly sure of the dates) for obvious reasons.

I take it you have no warranty from where you got the bike from? In which case Stephen at Grahams Motorcycles will be your best starting point.
