At least you guys will pay to put a roof over my head and give me money for alcohol. I'll stand outside the pub smoking my **** and spending my lunchtime in the bookies.
I often wonder who has actually got it right when I see them all.

I would definitely go for a 205 bike regardless of the cost ,
I paid 12.5 for my first in 2010 , had it for 3 years and loved it.
Whilst the new one will have similarities I can't believe after 5 years it won't be much improved.
I agree with you about the weight issue , but when you take the CAT off it , you'll save a shitload of weight they are really heavy.
I put OZ wheels on mine too which helped a lot , and besides they look mile better than the beemer forged wheels.....
Get saving up :):):)

I think the 2015 cat is 4 kgs less weight than the previous model

Hi All

Got round to weighing the BMW yesterday on the same scales as the GSXR and the BMW is heavier but still had standard end can on it. Had approx. same amount of fuel 3/4 tank i.e. 15l and the BM came in at 200kg. So BMW aren't far off with their estimations in their buff.

I've come from a decated k8 1000 to the 15 s1000 and the BM feels 100kgs lighter

Must say the only thing that makes the BM quicker than my K5 is the quick shifter the auto blipper is good but no better than the k5 slipper clutch that could be down changed into 1st gear at over 80mph. The K5 1000 was also lighter than a lot of 600 I think. The reason I have changed is that the k5 is a ten year old bike and is the wear and tear that starts to let it down nothing else.

Auto blipper doesn't take the place of a slipper it's in addition to. It comes in to it's own more on the track when automatically matching revs to wheel speed when it's all happening in the braking area. Personally I think its a great bit of kit. I think it was bayliss a while ago said that he was 2tenths a lap quicker with a quick shifter than without, but he was a bit good lol.

The BM also has a slipper clutch and with the auto blipper working together, should be fun on the track. Can't wait.

It's probably more realistic to say that the only thing that makes YOU quicker on your BMW compared to the K5 is the QS.
If the K5 was so good I'm sure the WSB / BSB Teams would still be using them. Put both these bikes in the hands of someone who races / runs fast on track and I'm sure the differences would be all to apparent, unless 10yrs of technological improvements have been a waste of time ofc.

My k5 was dyno'd at 168 bhp so 30 less than the bm so what affect on power to weight does the 20kg make do it make them about the same?

I have been a very very big fan of GSXR's, they have blown me away for 10 years now. Within 100 yards on the S thou it felt better than a week on the Mrs. Sorry

^^^ who's Mrs tho???

I went from 2010 S1000RR, then when it got nicked I bought a K5, now on a 2013 S1000RR.

All awesome bikes. The bm is just more awesome!

Bm definitely feels faster to me, only have it in race mode tho, and the bike is standard at the minute.

Had it less than 2 weeks tho.

I did love the K5 when I had it, but the bm is something else. Shame the gearbox feels like a bag of spanners!

I had a K8 with a bit of work done and a few extras. Was a nice bike. Cutting the cat off my 2013 S1RR saved 7.2KG. I said I'd never change the gixxer as it did it all. Before that I had three GSXR750's and a ktm super duke. Then I ride the S1RR!
