Agree with all of the above, you might as well remove mirrors, one less thing to replace IF the unthinkable happens, which it won't of course. I think the most important thing is to build up your pace steadily over the day, do not be drawn into following others beyond your comfort level. If your heart is beating quickly, you're out of your comfort zone unless you have some experience and you're pushing your body positioning beyond your fitness level. Definitely keep hydrated and snack often with sweet and salty stuff. Stretch before each session too, cramp at speed is very distracting!
The biggest riding tip I can think of is be very aware of visual overload, a fast bike will put your head in a spin on a short circuit and you don't want to become disorientated. Look as far ahead as possible to reduce the sensation of speed, and ride within your limits! Never forget the throttle goes both ways....
Lastly, if in doubt, your bike WILL do it, do not commit and then dither, there's absolutely no point in 'having a moment' as you couldn't follow through. Have fun and you'll be hooked!
