Good discussion on brake lights,it's something I hadn't even considered. I think I'll leave mine on as it's a road bike only session, and with everyone else being fairly new to this let's them see when I'm slowing.

Ross who is the track day with?Is it direct with Knockhill? Is it reverse or clockwise??

Just watch reverse if it is, Clarkes is completely off camber and very very easy to get wrong.

It's Perth Bike Night group who has booked direct with Knockhill. Think I'll give the track a call and double check direction just so I don't get caught out on the night and can watch some reverse videos first.

Knockhill are running there own track day during the day on the 25/08/2017 which is reverse, hence I was asking!!!

Dont Suppose there are any spaces available :topsy_turvy:

Think it's fully booked. Knockhill said it's running normal direction but I'm gonna watch a few vids just to be safe.

Agree with all of the above, you might as well remove mirrors, one less thing to replace IF the unthinkable happens, which it won't of course. I think the most important thing is to build up your pace steadily over the day, do not be drawn into following others beyond your comfort level. If your heart is beating quickly, you're out of your comfort zone unless you have some experience and you're pushing your body positioning beyond your fitness level. Definitely keep hydrated and snack often with sweet and salty stuff. Stretch before each session too, cramp at speed is very distracting!
The biggest riding tip I can think of is be very aware of visual overload, a fast bike will put your head in a spin on a short circuit and you don't want to become disorientated. Look as far ahead as possible to reduce the sensation of speed, and ride within your limits! Never forget the throttle goes both ways....
Lastly, if in doubt, your bike WILL do it, do not commit and then dither, there's absolutely no point in 'having a moment' as you couldn't follow through. Have fun and you'll be hooked!

Dirt bikes don't have mirrors, I'm sure it's not illegal (well it never used to be!)
Enjoy the track day.
