Rule number 1 when visiting Scotland......Don't speed on the A9! Even now there's average speed cameras covering most of it the coppers are still hell bent on catching people. A local should know better.

I read that in the paper today, guy was very lucky not to get a custodial.

Every time I see one of these articles it always makes me pause for thought ... keep telling myself "must, slow, down!"

Also makes you wonder what the punishment would have been if they'd have been in a car ...

If the "mobile speed camera unit" was a camera van, then he would not have been stopped at the time and would have been sent a NIP through the post. The NIP would have included a requirement to name the driver. Failure to do so would have been an offence which carries 6 points and would have made it virtually impossible to convict him of speeding or dangerous driving.

I am a law abiding citizen but looking at the fines and punishments that are being handed out as of april i asking myself the question "would i stop" if i was caught doing 100 mph +?.
Agreed , if a camara catchs me, then again, im not giving up details either.

Ahh, missed that.

Generally, a signed s. 172 response from the driver admitting to being the driver on that occasion is needed for a conviction - a nomination by the RK on their s. 172 response form would generally be insufficient, but if the RK was interviewed and gave evidence that the accused had the vehicle for a relatively short test ride and was the only person insured to ride it, that might well be sufficient (subject to any signed paperwork and the Scottish law regarding corroboration).
