As my BMW is not my only road bike, I was thinking of converting it to a trackday bike.

If I was to proceed with this, aside from the track bodywork, what should I be looking to do, what shouldn't I do, what's cost effective, what's not etc, etc. I'm by no means a hardcore trackday specialist and usually run in the inters group.

Many thanks in advance,
Simon

It might be better to tell us what you are thinking of doing... The possibilities are endless.

My view is that the bike does both track and road very well so keep it more or less as it is and enjoy both.

Race plastics, get the suspension sorted and some sticky rubber...i would also buy some tyre warmers and then you are good to go. Always better taking a track bike to the circuit on a trailer or van too just in case you have an accident etc.

Was thinking along the lines of using it for just the track for a while (i have a blade and a 996 that i use on the road too) but not making any changes that cannot be fairly easily reversed. Probably would do 10 or so track days a year.

Cheers

Cheers. Have got the suspension sorted (Ohlins rear and MCT fork kit) and i have got some tyre warmers. With the race plastics, what do people normally do with the headlights ? Also would unplugging the indicators give a fault reading on the dash?

Cheers
Simon
