Not wanting to look street cred and riding in a hi-viz jacket, what do people wear... (i guess something to wear over the warm textiles) ... more so for the commute to and from work...

Thanks

I personally think that there are too many hi-viz around nowadays ,that they are part of the scenery, need something different, striped hi-viz? Dunno......

headlight on is brighter and seen a lot earlier than any high viz, unless your all ready laying on the ground.

I use a pair of alpine stars forested fluorescent yellow commuting gloves

I've had positive visibility comments on ride outs and notice the difference when filtering and behind traffic it's much better being bright and seen.
Then again half of being noticed might be the noise and approach speed!

tbh I don't think it really matters what your wear , some blind d@#k will pull out on you anyway , trust me my bike is bright yellow and people pull out during the day. I just try to be as proactive as possible with other traffic, anticipating twats and riding defensively.

I always put my full beam on when I filter and it works a treat.

Rest of the time it's about anticipation, as Davy says people will not look, IAM or similar is invaluable.

Hids on main and high beam whilst filtering for sure. Like has been said if they arnt looking then they arnt seeing you regardless what clothing you wearing. Treat everyonw like they are trying to kill you and all will be well

Agree with points made but I think a high viz bib is a good idea to avoid being hit from behind in traffic particularly in winter when your rear light can be covered in crap, personally I don't think it's about looking cool if your commuting, more about being warm, dry and visible.

Treat everyone like they are trying to kill you and all will be well
That's the one piece of advice from my instructor that stuck with me the most and has served me well.
Be suspicious of every other road user until you are 100% they have seen you and even then expect the unexpected.
Another good bit of advice was that it's often easier to be heard than be seen, hence the saying loud cans save lives.

she would get noticed stu lol, air bags mac lol , some set of air bags , It would be a tragedy if someone rammed her from the rear cause she wasn't wearing hi viz.....

Sorry to disappoint you Stu but that Hi Viz bra doesn't come in your size, you'll just have to persevere with your mankini meantime.
