They can see over-revs and I am sure other telemetry maximums. Basically anything that indicates at some point it's been mistreated. If I drop a valve and they find I have over-revved the engine (in their opinion), no payout for sure. But the dashboard going faulty or something non-engine that wouldn't be linked to it...

I've accepted I may need to rebuild my own engine...even if it goes pop within the warranty period no matter how well I care for it (and I do).

The map isn't erased in my experience. The firmware you speak of is separate to the tables of the map.

However do check with RS2E and get their confirmation.

A map does kill your warranty, they can see it has been done.
On the Gen3 (2018) after firmware update map was erased. Even the tech warned me of this outcome. Same with the F900R SE (2020).

17c bright sunny day. Haven't ridden in 6 months so it was hard work physically.
Bike was flying. Bit too much in 2nd out of the hairpin (Montreal). Power wheelies are easy on 16/46 gearing.

I still brake an hour too early on most straights so I could find time. Best was a 2:12.90. Lots of traffic...
