Advice please

Gents,

I am getting my tyco S1000RR next friday when i return from offshore. I was looking for some advice, It comes with the akrapovic sports silencer which the BMW garage told me its not possible to fit rear foot pegs to carry a passenger unless I put on the standard exhaust as the other one has carbon fibre brackets.


So I have two options leave the bike as it is which I wont be able to carry a passenger ?

Or install the normal exhaust system ?

what would you lads thinks best ?

I would say of you need to carry a passenger then I'd put the standard exhaust on.
If you've not got any real reason to then leave the Akrapovic on.

My personal opinion is that an out and out sports bike like this isn't really designed to carry a passenger; people do but I'd imagine it's the minority.

maybe ask your dealer if a 2017 RH pillion peg attachment will fit your Akro exhaust?? The '17 RH peg has an attachment for the new stock exhaust....if you're lucky it may fit your Akra??

Ask Akrapovic for details they may know better than the dealers.

If it's anything like the HP4 fitting, which it probably is, there is a different carbon collar for the end can if you fit the pegs instead of the carbon hangar which raises the linkage to the pillion peg allowing it to be supported. The pillion peg would need to have the threaded end on the inside which the pre '17 models have *I think*. Without the adapted carbon collar the pillion peg will be too high for the existing collar to connect to it. Hope that makes sense.

In its simplest terms you are after the pillion pack for the akra end can.

Just been having another look at this.

is your end can the same as the one pictured here:

if it is then it will fit with the pillion pegs, job done. Edit: just need to ensure the rhs pillion peg has the threaded end for the can to connect to but I assume the positioning is the same as the '15 standard can.

if not then it's the different collar stuff I posted before .

The 17 bike hangs the can from the rear pegs, of the mounting hole centres are the same then simply fit those and use a piece of nice stainless or Ti strip to make a strap, it will easily take shape of the can.
We never buy them for the race bike, and they look pretty good.
Or I would draw one on cad and email you the file to send for water jet cutting off you wished.

The Akrapovič HP slip-on can be used with the standard pillion footrests.

I thought because it is a tyco rep it will be the 15/16 variant as per the picture so can be used with the standard pillion pegs from that MY. I was talking guff about the collar, getting confused about the race bikes lol .
