No, but its easier. There is a fastener behind the silencer.
Beware, they use some sill cross head plastic/nylon rivet type screw. Very easy chewed up. i replaced 2 of them with stainless allen capped bolts.
 
a very good fitting screw diver. some wd40 to penetrate the nylon screw from the rivet/captive part. the hugger and chain guard are seperate but clip together. there is one torx screw, cant remember size, if you screw up the head of the nylon screw you can snip it off with side cutters and get new ones.
 
Those nylon screws are horrible, unless you get a very good fitting screwdriver, you will destroy the head.

Good call to replace them with stainless fittings, where possible.
