alpha Racing Rearsets
After a bit of deliberation I've decided to replace my HP rearsets this weekend. Following my crash on track last season I was somewhat surprised that it was pretty much impossible to get hold of spares for the HP rearsets. Should I have another 'off' I would rather not have to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to source replacement parts from eBay.
With that in mind I've purchased a new set of rearsets from alpha Racing. They are extremely well made but what I really like about them is the simple design which is exactly how rearsets should be. Most importantly every single part is replaceable and available as a spare should you need it.
Installation is fairly simple but like nearly all alpha Racing parts they are not supplied with any fitting instructions. The rearsets are fully adjustable, like those that they replace, but so far I've only set them up whilst sitting static on the bike. Compared to the HP rearsets the range of adjustment is better suited for improving ground clearance for track use and not for comfort. I won't know until I'm back on track if everything is in the correct position but I fully expect to have to make a few small adjustments once I've ridden the bike again. Overall I'm really pleased with them.

Nice one. Fyi, keep an eye on the gear selector mounting plate. Mine manage to come loose. Thread-lock needed for sure.

Thanks. Given the lack of instructions I've torqued all the bolts to OEM values and used Loctite wherever possible.

Any particular reason at your level that you opt for treaded tyres Ryan, or was that down to the conditions you were expecting?

Race Tyres
There is nothing wrong with race compound treaded tyres. You only have to look at the lap times in SSTK1000 to see what they are capable of. Today I spent two laps on them and then switched to wets for the remainder of the day. I don't bother fitting slicks when instructing as the pace varies so much throughout the day depending on which individual or group that you go out with. I always use slicks on European trackdays though.

I did wonder if it was due to the varying pace you are having to ride at, I appreciate what you are saying about the tyres being more than up to the job and i take what you say about the European tracks.
I am going to try some V02's shortly purely out of interest and it was to be honest a bit of a spur of the moment decision as I am getting them at ?260 delivered or else I would have stuck to treaded and gone for the Racetech RR's.

Metzeler Racetec RR
I've personally only ever fitted Metzeler Racetec RR race tyres (Slick/Treaded/Rain) for the last few seasons as they work really well for me. You may find the link below useful.
