As stated above there actually isn't a size limit although if you tot up the measurements the shortest plate you could have would be 6.4 inches but it could be narrower if you had few characters. The plate also has to be made up by a registered number plate supplier, so if you can find one to do to it for you happy days although it might look a bit weird having a thin but nearly 7" plate on your bike.
