I run the risk of being corrected here but I think the TC is always on albeit the more extreme the mode the less TC intervention there is. What slick does do is de-activate the anti wheelie so you can flip the bike! And also switches off the abs to the rear wheel, so you can lock the rear if you brake too hard.

thats correct. In slick the TC will intervene later than in other modes.

Almost, Slick mode does not de activate anti wheelie only switching DTC off will do that. Even then the TC is still on 3%. But yes slick mode will give less TC interaction, ABS still works on the rear but the front brakes are no longer linked to the rears.
 
Cheers Lumpy, only pages 99 - 100 of the owners manual beg to differ don't they?? Have a read as I'd be interested to know how you interpret it. You forget sometimes just how much electronic gizmos these bikes have until you dust off the owner's manual and have a read again!
