With UK dealers shut, are there places that I can order a caliper rebuild kit incl. Brake Pad Pins in Europe that can post? (still waiting for Reactive Parts to give me a price)...

Bahnstormer BMW's price was ?450 for both front calipers. Parts were ?148.30 per caliper when I called them last week.

Thanks,
Amit

What parts do you need to replace? I'd strip the calipers before I lashed out 450 spons on parts that you may not need!

Realistically ..... Brake Pads Pins. Agree, Just need to whip them off and give them a good clean... it?s just that last time during the 24k service, it was recommended by Bahnstormer, but they said as a first attempt, they would clean them and see how I got on...

Been scrubbing them for days. Just cannot seem to clear the crud off them...

When they are clean(ish) when I first fit them, the wheel spins free. When I apply the brake, it then only 1/2 turns before binding. Not issues seen like the picture of the burn looking pads but when breaking hard, seems to judder.... warped disks? These are new brembo replacement disks, put on about 18 months ago?

I'm guessing that when you clean them you take the pads out? I think that you may have a build up of dirt and corrosion around the outer seal which is preventing the piston from retracting and causing the drag. The calipers will need removed and stripped to properly clean them. I've never stripped a Brembo, but I've serviced a fair few Tokicos and often it's possible to clean and reuse both pistons and seals.

Which calipers are you after ?

They send Calipers off to Brembo. Awaiting a price and lead time as they don?t sell the items to do them myself (not that I have the confidence to do them and bleed brakes too)

Yes, I take the pads out first and tried cleaning with soapy water/ brake cleaner... the is stubborn crud on them.

Man, if you're doing this to Gen3 OE calipers it's such a waste.

550 will get you new M4 monoblocks.

OEM Calipers

I agree. That really is an obscene amount of money to refurbish a set of OEM calipers. I would be inclined to just upgrade them for not much more money, or find a good quality secondhand set on eBay.

I had look online.. do they not do a seal kit for Gen 3 .. doesn't appear to be listed Gen 1 and 2 are...

Are they not the same calipers?

I honestly wouldn't order anything until the calipers have been stripped and checked. In my experience the main seals rarely need replaced. The dust seals can suffer heat damage if the brake has been dragging.

Stuart, you did a very good step by step of rebuilding your HP4 calipers. The pistons looked like they were made of Titanium? Are they?
