Hi all, this may be a daft question. I have had a look at a 2015 S1000RR today that did not have the slick +/- button on the left controls. I assume that this means that the DTC settings cannot be altered in slick and user mode e.g +7/-7?

Sounds like the ones that don't have the 'performance pack' which was an extra when new. Also doesn't have the slick facility I believe...

A pretty rare S1000rr with no options fitted , snap it up it'll be worth a fortune in a few years !

You have to think about resale. Bikes with options sell better. Period. Personally no Pro pack would be a deal breaker.

So it would be more of a bargain to buy this one without the options now..?

The base model is still 97% as good as a full spec trimmed option.
Riding Mode Pro has no improvements to engine - plus how many riders with adjustable TC have actually changed it to their benefit. Its nice to have everything but isn't needed!

The price difference between the 2 bikes I'm looking at is ?500. The cheaper being the one without the performance pack. The dearer of the 2 has a 2 Year BMW warranty, Akrapovic exhaust, less miles. In this case the value stacks up in favour of the dearer bike to me. Still not sure if I want to spend the money mind haha.

If you ride on the road more, then the user mode is great because you can 'mix & match' the different settings from the other modes to suit your needs.

On the track, you would want slick mode (if your'e running slicks).

I would say get the full spec one, you will regret it later if you don't.

I don't think you can engage slick without the pack? Back to the tc, if you are confident in sliding the rear or saving it when it steps out unexpectedly then yes, no point in having it lol for us lesser mortals (me) it's nice knowing there is a back up and certainly has made me more aware of grip levels...

I think its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I've not been riding long and I'm always learning and developing as a rider. I would rather have the system in place to allow me to push my limits and develop while remaining upright. Of course any system cannot defy the laws of physics.

Sounds like you have a good outlook Mike, it will make for a longer riding life. Looking at the spec. for both the bikes you describe, the extra ?500 would be a wise investment. The Akro alone pushes the price up and 2 years BMW warranty is around ?700, no brainer.

Good luck

Cheers JimmyMac. I'm still debating if it is worth the upgrade at all. I think a 15 with the DDS etc will suit my needs better (ride to track days, mostly road riding) than My 14 with Ohlins Forks/Shock etc. I suppose it comes down to do I want to spend the money or not.

Mike 100% go for the performance pack, the more experienced of us spent years riding bikes without any rider aids at all and yes most of the time you don't need them but on the other hand they are if you do and particularly if you're sat on 200bhp!

Good Advice MacRR. Some of the best fun I had was on my 1199s on Bridgestone S21's, flying round Silverstone in rain mode. I don't think the traction control stopped flashing haha.

The track was drenched mind, standing water on the entrance to Abbey.

If it's not got it already - have them install ABS Pro on the better one...at no extra cost ;)

Cost to change to the higher priced bike is at ?3,500. I would hope to recover ?2.5K from the bits sold of my 2014. So, effectively is ?1000 to change to a 15 and gain a 2 year warranty.

Would you guys think it is worth the change? I am quite tempted.

Any takers on a TTX Shock, FGRT202 or Leo Vince SS system lol?

I'd do it. I'm too heavily invested in my '12 to upgrade this year. Otherwise I would.
The 15+ if it's doesn't turn right by itself is a step forwards in all areas.

I have not ridden one to avoid further temptation.
