As far as I can tell, most 'sporty' tyres offer more than enough grip, but the profile is just as important as the grip, if not more. The Michelin PP3's are unpleasant to say the least, the profile offers an even tip in to around 40deg then after that, highly unpredictable in my experience and usually unpredictable oversteer/wtf moments. A V shaped profile seems to give a sharp tip in (great), then grip and predictability when leaning over 40deg.
Be aware of the profile and your preference between a U and a V shape and shop accordingly. Get that right and all's good!
