So, after my 600 mile service, I have just come back from a 2,800 mile trip of Belgium, Germany and France.... Broke my Euro virginity and all I can say is Wow....

Tarmac like amazing, twisties as far as the eye can see and scenery was too good to be true....

Anyway, back home after 8 nights away, and the bike seems to be a little rattley and the gears not as smooth as before (both up and down)...

I have checked the oil and it does not really give me a good idea as to what it should read.... I rode it home after work and then left it on the side stand for 10 mins and then on the paddock stand.... And this is was the oil window shows.....?

Is this correct? I would assume that some sort of line should be there...?

Help/guidance as always would be greatly appreciated.

The red ring around the lense is the max min mark, I can't really tell if it's ok from that picture (can't tell if it's an air gap at the top or if it's just the photo) but you want it to be be between half way and the top of the circle.

Get someone to lean the bike away to the right as you view the glass. You will see a bubble appear, mine does the same. The engine does rattle a fair bit, don't worry about it.

Assuming that it is an OEM chain, and that you didn't take a paddock stand and a torque wrench with you, and that you were riding the bike appropriately, your chain will be in serious need of adjustment.

Agreed, although the gen2 I had used a lot more oil than my current gen3 so you need to keep a regular eye on it. As Andy says if you haven't done so give the chain a good clean and lube (use Wurth products for this as they're spot on) which will make a big difference and check the adjustment.

So I tilted the bike and a bubble appeared first and then the oil level van be seen moving.... Would expect more from BMW Park Lane.... Overfilling ... Tut, tut, tut. To name but a few little issues...
