Down at the dealer this morning, just for an MOT. There's a check going on for oil filters. If it says Made in Brazil then it needs changed... apparently they have changed their minds about using them on 4 cylinder bikes. Nothing urgent, so not a recall, just a campaign

found on the interwebs

"BMW is recalling certain BMW Dealer Service Part Oil Filters designed to fit S1000RR, M1000RR/R/XR, HP4 (Race) motorcycles, and with part number 11427721779-04. The vibration frequencies from certain high-revving four-cylinder motorcycle engines can cause the oil filter to unscrew during riding."

My bike passed MOT no issues, but it printed out with a massive warning about the recall at the top of the certificate. The staff hadn't seen that before.

I had that issue and found the issue in the garage, thank God! I have since put a wire on my oil filter, that will never happen again.

Guessing it doesn't go back far as it was a 4th iteration/supplier.

You're looking for oil filters with -04 as the suffix

Do we know how far back this goes? Mines a Gen 2 but hasn’t done a lot of miles, all track.
I get my Gen 2 serviced by an independent garage these days, but I know they buy a lot of supplies from the same main dealer that maintains my other bikes. Dealer said that I can take the Gen 2 in for a check - after all, it doesn't really matter what age the bike is, those things get changed every year. However, I'll probably be checking it myself over the winter
