Guys - I thought this would have been answered before, but I've trawled the forum and I can seem to see it, so:

If I fit an ARCS GP2 system (just the de-cat - not full system) what happens at MOT time? I've read they will fail you if there's not a catalytic converter on the bike? I thought as long as it wasn't too noisy they would pass you regardless?

Any thoughts?

And apologies if this is a somewhat daft question!

ps: I know I can re-fit the standard cat and can for the MOT, but obviously want to avoid this if I can...

CAT converter is not part of the bike MOT yet.

I think you should be more worried about the sound level.

Even sound levels are at MOT testers discretion. So get a good tester and your'll be fine.

My 2011 with Decat and Akra stubby is loud, but compared to my old VN900 with straight Vance and Hines pipes it's nothing

I have had the ARCS GP2 system, people keep commenting on the noise......it's not that loud, it's a fantastic looking system with a short can but.....it's not that loud. I changed it out for an Arrow full system, with a full length can and the Arrow is much noisier.

As for MOT, as Ross says get a good tester but I thought it was more to do with an "approved for road use" sticker / stamp was what decided pass or fail but I'm not sure.

Regards
Davy

Thanks guys

Not too worries about the noise as it will have DB killers. Seems a CAT is not a legal requirement. Some say it will be soon, but there are no specifics here.
