i have just purchased a 2010 s1000rr and now saying bye to my 2011 zx10r, i have bought the s1000rr with bitubo rear shock and ech 29 cartridge kit, and the bike is badly set up , i need to try and locate the instructions/user manuals for the bitubo suspension, if anyone can help i would appreciate it, thanks

Welcome,
The S1000RR will never feel the same as the ZX-10R especially the front end.
It's great quality kit but as you eluded to, if it's not setup right then it can easily be a pig. Are you track riding/road/both?
Do you know the weight of the springs?
Which part of the country are you in? KyleZX7R on here sets up suspension oop-north.

im not sure what the weight of the front springs are but the front feels fine , the back is rock hard and un rideable its not good .

Well every dial on the XXF031 is anti-clockwise for softer and clockwise for harder. If you set it fully soft, push the back down and find a lot of resistance then the spring is likely to be very stiff. (My XXF41 came with a 9.9kg spring and I had that swapped for a 9.0kg by Buildbase BMW). With fully soft damping the back should go down and spring back up quickly...because there's little or no rebound damping.

I'd recommend looking at some videos. The principles are the same - just where the adjusters are change. The XXF31 has;
  • Twin Compression (High Speed - 20 clicks, Low Speed - 20 clicks) - both on left
  • Rebound with 24 - clicks - on the right
  • Spring Preload with single ring adjuster - under the rebound on the right.

thanks for your help, my shock is a xxf41 will this cause me any issues as my bike is a 60 reg, as i said it has a 105 spring and the spring was set on the second groove from the bottom of the shock.

could you tell me what the recommended base settings are so i have a starting point, cheers

Ummm...you've not said it's a 105 in THIS thread...but now you have, yes that's way too hard for road riding IMO unless you're 17stone or more?
The XXF41 was for the 2015+ but I have one on my 2012 so yeah they fit, they are longer in the stroke I believe. Same principles.

thats why its rock hard lol , I'm 14 stone light lol , that explains my biggest issue then, cheers

KyleZX7R and PrimeFactors who supply our Premier Members with a discount, can get Bitubo parts - if you want to get a new spring - personally if I didn't know the history of the setup I'd be tempted to get the bike to a suspension specialist, have them service it all, get the right springs and set it up.

Hi Nailer, welcome to the site, you seem to be getting to the bottom of your stiff back end. Best of luck, some really knowledgable folk on here to help you.
