Hi guys.

My name is Tom, riding 2012 SKRR since 2017 and also own a R 2019.

At the moment I'm in process of making my RR fresher. Tweaking suspension setup and having some fun around the bike in general.

Love the bike and spending as much time on it and around it as I possibly can ;D

Cheers for the intro Tom.

So your RR is a Gen2 '12, but the R was new in '19 yeah?

Which part of the country are you in. We maybe able to better guide you to local suspension experts.

All suspension should have fork oil every 2-3 years no matter the usage imo so yours is likely well overdue.

I'm Bournemouth England.

That is exactly what I want to do, full suspension service plus, as you already suggested, I'll re spring it at the same time. Trying to loose weight as I go but I always was on the larger side, so not going to drop below 100kg/240lbs so still worth looking into adopting the setup.

The R is all electronics and I'm fine with the way it rides and handles the RR is more of a precision tool as such. Would love to master it and improve on my riding skills before moving onto something faster and more advanced technically and mechanically.

I do not have many riding buddies and most of the ones I ride with are not wired as me and not always looking to go a bit faster, but be safe at the same time. I would like to gain more confidence in to how the machine behaves and reacts to my input and at the moment I feel like the suspension is not doing what it should or could do in order to aid my riding style.

I believe that bike is maintained well but also always looking to learn and take some advice in.

My local BMW dealer and service abandoned the brand and now is going with Royal Enfield, so I'm in need of some friendly garage who can help me with my bike and one I can rely on and be confident with.

We get involved in some road bike track days at Cadwell and Snetterton with the wider BMW Club. They are a brilliant way to get your first taste of properly flying on the RR in a safe way without all the track day gods :) Once your suspension is sorted it might be a great event for you.

There's a thread here about them - might be up your street if you're free.

May 18th is likely to be cancelled IMO with lockdown but hopefully the June and August days will still happen.

Hi Tom and welcome to a great forum I only joined last year. I live not too far away from you, being in the New Forest and can recommend a couple of companies I have used for different specialist matters. First, Race Lab Motorcycle Suspension in Wimborne did a brilliant job on my R1 suspension and the guy to speak to is Paul Adams the owner. He may have time on his hands at the moment as he is normally in attendance and BSB and club meetings!! The second is Road & Race Performance in Verwood, just round the corner from Crescent Motorcycles - same applies ref time! Guy to speak to there is Alan - the owner. Your difficulty would be how to get your bike there, dunno about an essential journey though, haha.
