Lights were only ever the size the technology of the time needed them to be.

Absolutely, just sayin the new face does look very generic now the big asymetrical lights have gone (I appreciate that has been commented on by others before).

Yup.

The assymetric look which was roundly laughed at and now mourned was entirely function over form.

Highbeam and dipped need different patterns so the made different lights. Saving weight in the process.

The LED lights are different.

So bmw sell led kit for mine ?
Wouldnt mind sum of them led lights in mine.
Blind all them car drivers wiv full beam on
payback is a ***** lol

You can fit HID to boost gen 1-3 lights. 35-55w on dipped only is enough for most situations.

LED tech lights from the factory are much more than a bulb change they are not retrofitable. An LED bulb only shares the fact its a Light Emitting Diode with what is fitted to the Gen4.

I’ll have a look into that thanks
i won’t be fitting them for sure.
me and electrics don’t mix lol.

If you get time check out video below.
If you can ignore his coughing its a fantastic explaination of what ive been going on about earlier in this thread.
I cannot see how the 2019 is going to be good on the road with the numbers it has.

Good vid :)

No good on the road, why not? How do you arrive at that conclusion.

Simple. Smooth racetracks dont need as much stability control and have high average speeds.
Bumpy roads with lower speeds need more stabilty and self righting properties.
As average speeds are alot lower you dont have the gyroscopic self righting effect of the wheels so bike becomes twitchy/ unstable and more vague.
But the new bmw will make a better race bike and i think thats why bmw have taken these measures.
I will eat my hat if it behaves better on the road in any way.
Unless like i said bmw have te invented the wheel and discovered a cure.
At the price of 15k for a base model id say they havnt.

Yes they did

- Alex
Yes. But from previous experience on my last bike i lengthened the wheelbase by about 45mm to try stop wheelies. It reduced them a bit but i didnt notice any change in stability or changes of direction.
It would seem you need to make larger adjustments in wheelbase to feel it as opposed to geometry changes.
I think people need to try the bmw before buying it blind.
All the specs make for a lairy bike for the road. Appart from a bit extra wheelbase

Side note: Did you know they made the latest 'blade inherently unstable geometrically and though suspension dynamics and then used electronics to control it.

Bit like the X-29...

My mate is getting rid of his SP-2 as its too nervy and unstable...

A top guy I spoke to recently knocked 1.5 seconds off his lap time on the new BMW. He said it hardly felt different to the current bike but was so linear that you didn't even realise how much faster you were going until you were missing your braking points and had to recalibrate.

Ok.. Ok 5 minutes...deep breath lads. Some of you are getting the sleeves rolled up and almost at "Jaikets Aff" point. (Jackets Off)

I reckon that ******* Goebbels is still alive, subliminally poisoning our minds! Let's face it, we're all talking about this Kraut Crate eh.....creepy as **** !

Wonder how this RR will look in 55 years time ?.

Anyhow.....

So I love engineering, a bit like our RoadRunner on here......I am on YouTube now with alarming consistency, every night it just gets better.

We're all wrapped up in this latest model from Germany......I've just spent the last 2 nights online, youtube etc with what has to be THE FINEST piece of modern day engineering, I would go as far as to the point of fantasy engineering that we will see in our lifetime....designed in the 50s and built in 60s, to this day it looks incredible and still holds stacks of records for a naturally aspirated engine... so that rules out the Saturn 5 right..coz..that's a rocket !..

Some of you will guess, some of you won't...in contrast, we sure as **** won't be discussing the 2019 RR in 2070...anyhow just thought I'd chuck this in to bring a bit of reality into our miserable low tech lives ...
