Got taken out by a friend to go car shopping in his 650S. What a car, just insane. Beautifully crafted and goes like it's on rails. Had to ask how to open the door lol.

Beautiful car, but can tell he goes shopping in it, whats going on with those kerbed alloys?!

Beautiful cars them Andy, there building a plant a mile away from me in Sheffield to start manufactureing carbon fibre chassis for there new cars. When you ordering one seen as your selling the 6 series.

No I didn't have a go lol. I was nervous just sitting in it, it was automotive perfection. The noise though, roof down was proper take the piss stuff in a giggly boy way, I'd be tempted to get one just to annoy the neighbours.

As far as a car experience goes I have never been in something that corners flat like this car did. Just no roll, turn the wheel, it goes that way, at any speed, apparently *cough*. Acceleration was epic, 100 in under 6 seconds, apparently? If I didn't have bikes I'd learn to live without most of my body organs to have the 720 which is even better apparently lol. That wouldn't go down well pmsl.

It's always a struggle having to admit that a car is........... see what I mean [emoji32]

McLaren have totally taken it to Ferrari and beaten them in real world ability. They get slated for "emotional" detachment, like the GT-R also is. But that's berk-speak for it's so sorted that you can just get on and make progress, instead of it scaring the bejeezus out of you.

And to think they iterate the breed so quickly, it's hard to know how they can move the game on from the 720S with the next "LM"...

@MacRR those moments when Nikki ground out the 720s must have made petrol heads world wide cringe lol

Probably, I think its quite smart thinking on Mclaren's part getting diverse 'testers' driving their cars to access a much wider audience than the usual and often nerdy motoring press. There's another vid they've done on the 570S which looks like a superb bit of kit for the relatively modest sum of ?150k(!)

I'd forgive her, or at least let her work it off.

The thing with cars like this is that there's always a better one on the way. People who buy them generally want the latest best car, so they have to keep upgrading, or feel the 'shame' of the next best version pulling up next to them at the traffic lights one day. All the manufacturers are masters at it. My next car purchase will be something inherently flawed and not trying to be the best at anything, just cool (imo) and fun. I couldn't own one of these super cars, just negotiating speed bumps is enough to put me off.

Oh it's very good advertising indeed as YouTube is an excellent platform.
It also highlights how user friendly modern super cars are to drive, what with their DSG gearboxes etc.

As Soof says though, I'd forgive her lol (although inside I would be dying!) ;)

I agree with you Phil the 570S looks like a fantastic car too and that ?150K bracket is very exciting indeed!

So Soof, any ideas on what your next car will be? :)

Alpha, r u kidding? They are *****. Even the 8C is crap, ffs Alex I have not got the temperament or sense of humour for alpha ownership.

French Mac? The only Peugeot that was good was the 205 1.9 GTi.

We shall see. I nearly got talked into buying a Marco Polo by the wife last week so anything could happen.

Had a 205 GTI, one of my favourite cars, had to sell it to but my first house :( I'll be interested to see what you go with but I'll wager it'll be German

Nope.

Someone was telling me last week that a ropey 205 1.9gti went at a classic auction for ?30k recently. I'm secretly thinking AX Gti lol.
