My names Michael born in Uk and moved all over, currently on the island of Cyprus, I’ve had many many motorcycles and superbikes since I started riding in 1994 and bought my first s1000rr from my mechanic last Friday (Gen 1) which has a freshly rebuilt engine by professionals with the crankshaft from the Gen 2 so I needed to run it in again, unfortunately on the way home which was only 30km away the engine started knocking and this week was a holiday out here so I won’t know what’s up with it until next week.
I was offered my money back on the spot and although I didn’t go over 6k rpm the bike still just felt like the right fit for me and was a pleasure in the curves so I’m going to wait it out and hopefully isn’t as bad as I think.
Nice to meet you all and 🤞🤞🤞I keep the bike and stay a member

it was the crank shaft they bought online , it already had a small crack in it that wasn’t noticed so after 30km it started knocking, so another 2012 crank shaft was bought, tested first then installed, I’ve put the first 1000km in just under a week inbetween 4-6k rpm, changed the oil and added another 300km in between 4-8k rpm and now I’ve been flat out for the last 300km all in all 1600km and it’s running amazingly, the top end of the rev range is mental but it does run 10-20c hotter than my previous Japanese bikes

Oh and it has a k&n air filter, it’s de-catted and it had the ecu flashed before the rebuild at 185 rwhp.
It’s on Bridgestone s22’s and I have a set of s23’s ready to install as soon as these are worn
It also has Oxford mini led indicators so whenever I turn the indicators on (lamp!) error shows on the dash covering the temperature gauge until I turn the switch off and on again
