As I don't ride flat out (anywhere) at my age and with a high level of self preservation, would you say there is much difference between any version of the S1000RR when only riding at say 75%. Is a Gen1 in Rain mode much difference from a 2024 bike, in rain mode ? Or is it time for me to buy an S1000R ?

Forgot to add currently I'm riding a last Gen3 K46

Even 75% is still fast on the road. Any post-2004 litre bike is quick, but as long as you're still finding it comfortable riding I don't see a need to swap. At least the RR has some weather protection with the fairing.

I suspect the main difference will be in the electronics and rider aids. I have a 22 RR and borrowing the dealer 24RR there was not a lot in it and certainly not enough to justify the cost of upgrading. But, you would easily feel the difference between a pre and post 2019 model at any level. That said, anything above 50%on the road is certifiable - prison food or pine box. So, if your yardstick is a pre-K67 then go for it as the rider aids are arse saving at 5% if you mess up, let alone 75%.

My only comment is the amount of wind resistance on yourself between the the R and RR. For example, on dual carriage ways and motorways.
