Ok first off this is my Gixxer but the principle is the same I'm guessing. Got an Abba Skylift, which is feckin awesome, but I digress
Got the headers off and looking at the ports they look dirty. Is this to be expected? Can / should I spray silicone spray / wd40 or similar in. Are there moving parts in there?
heres what I'm looking at (she's on 92k !)

That looks normal. Pretty good considering the milage (is that right 92k miles?). You don't want to be spraying anything in there. There are moving parts there, the rods you can see are exhaust valves but they get lubed where they need it from the oil pump. Silicone could varnish up on the seats and give a bad seal. If nothing else the salt/grit that you can see around the port will get blasted into the engine by whatever you spray. And you don't want that. I'd just try and wipe the salt away before reinstalling the headers.

Thanks. Kind of what I was thinking. Any moisture could cause more problems than it solves. And yes 92,500 on her.

That's some mileage
I had my k8 750 from new to 46000 miles and it never missed a beat
The only thing was the gear position sensor think I went through 4
