I've mounted mine to the left hand frame through the fairing.. It gives an interesting angle..

As the OP says, tank isn't allowed on trackdays.
I've seen quite a few stuck to the bottom of the air intake. Others on the tail unit. But IMO where Stephen has his positioned is best for on track.

I have mine on the top yoke, this complies with the no tank rule, see pic

Mine also mounts through the top yoke. Not had an issue with it at Uk or Euro trackdays.

For the overlay download http://www.dashware.net/ combined with the gps data from one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Qstarz-BT...hash=item5ae39d43ed:m:mucwYUZSAL0Ml2V_RrPjzEg takes a little while to combine both but if you have any video editing skills (not a lot required) it's a doddle. For me this is the budget method of getting the overlay, you can pay a lot more but it's fine for my use. Hope that helps

BTW you need the GPS open to the sky for best reception, you can see mine on the tail section of the pic above, I used a go pro mount to tether it onto OK
