Btw, both the static cycle and rower are cheap amazon purchases, and they?ve both lasted for years with no problems or maintenance. I think I paid around ?500 for both.
Sorry,I should have put this all in the first post....but to all the over 50?s here, a meta study reported in the New Scientist last week said that muscle strengthening, that?s all muscles not just the legs, is as important, if not more, than cardiovascular fitness. Obviously you need both, but build those muscles was the takeaway. It?s often neglected and plays a huge part in everyone?s immune response as well as overall fitness.

Great piece of kit, wish I could justify the cost. You'll enjoy it, we have the atom one at work as one of the employees is an Ironman competitor, he went to Hawaii last year to compete.

Only one piece of advice, get a massive fan as otherwise the sweat will pour off you.

Yeah its the Atom. I am going to park it by a window but yeah thinking about getting the summer fan in place.

Its proper kit as you demonstrate...i have no excuses.

I'd like a rower too but live in an apartment which really limits the space. I had to negotiate for the bike...

Forget the summer fan, you need a fan all year round, trust me I have racked up over 5800km on Zwift and its an absolute must, you'll die without one. I tried for a couple of months and couldn't hack it without one and it was winter and I had all the windows open in the room. The wahoo fan looks good but is out of stock. I got this one like this from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Breeze...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

And on full whack I still get off the bike dripping in sweat.

Zwift is fantastic also if you want to be motivated as you can plod along at your own pace and then try and keep with a group or do workouts or race, its brilliant for keeping you motivated. I had 10 months off due to illness but am back at it every day now. Only missed 1 day this month, its addictive.

Enjoy the bike though and feel free to buy me one;)

Hehe. Its on finance over 12m.
I'll try the 16" fan I have, but I know I sweat like a mofo so expect I will have to step it up a gear later. Thanks for the recommendation.

I intend to join an app. Not sure which yet. I mainly want to read/audible. I find it easy to do work related book reading (being a decent manager to my team / DevOps) whilst pedalling on a casual ride, sat at 80-90 rpm. Once I have some base fitness I may tackle an actual route...we'll see, if the fecking thing arrives.

Question, it can take cleats, should I go to them straight away? Assume its much better for climbs, and better for the body. As you push and pull...

Yes use cleats asap then when you go back on the road you will be used to them

Definitely use cleats, I use my old mtb shimano ones, I?m on Zwift as it just stops the boredom as you can choose routes and when your in the app can choose to go in a different direction if you feel like it.

I tried sufferfest and Tacx and trainer road and if your after a fintness program then there ok but I found Zwift easier as I could choose a programme if I wanted and if not like for the last month I just ride where I fancy.

Cool, I'll try to get the cleats sent with it, think they just supply shimano mtb's.

So next is footwear, ultra ventilated I guess.

Any brands to avoid?

Just get anything that fits nice, I have Specialised Elite for the road cleats as they are for the Ultegra road pedals and a Shimano pair for the MTB cleats on the turbo pedals. I love the look of the Sidi shoes but my feet hate them with a passion.

Just ordered some cheaper Giro Rev Road Shoes to get me going. I can't justify the costs of better ones at the moment when I can't try them on in a store.

Bike arrives tomorrow!

I am that bored I am considering doing some decking in the garden ,I never thought life would come to this :)

I am running out of things/jobs to do, yesterday fitted a water softener electrical thingy, descaled everywhere that was affected in the house. Today putting in 14 outside led light fittings (with help from my sparky rugby teammate). Tomorrow I have nothing more to do unless I decide to build a new bigger shed (which I probably don?t really need), been putting that one to the bottom of the list since last year lol as theres a lot of digging out to do. Doing a bleep test a bit later today as part of a club challenge. Desperate to not get bored.

I will probably flush brake lines for 4th time in 2 months this weekend when installing gp4rx calipers

So what job do ye know ye should do but just can't bring yourself to??

Mine is take off the black tape when I stripped the unnecessary on the loom and replace it with loom tape. Which I have.

Tank, throttle body, and fairings are already off so it's right there ready. Just can't seem to do it.

Doesn't help that if I'm too bored. I Pull out the 450 and horse through the fields

From what I'm hearing in the news this morning, the 'Stay at home' message will be dropped as of Monday to ease the economy back slowly. This potentially means people can get out and about provided they're taking social distancing measures and therefore hopefully means we can start riding our bikes. Fingers crossed and let's see what Mr Johnson says on Sunday.

the bit that worries me about this is the selfish people that wont give a toss about social distancing measures ,but I digress I need to cut the hedges today

At last I managed to clean out my garage by sweeping and vacuuming!
Took a few shots inside to show you my man cave. Still too much in there but most of it is still needed[emoji53]

Both the BMW and the Yamaha are both washed and polished and waiting for lockdown to end.
Oh and in my spare time I grew a moustache.
Everyone says I look like Tom Selleck from Magnum PI, that used to be on TV a few years ago[emoji849]

Now who am I to argue with that[emoji3]
