All modifications are declared with no issues. I'm unlikely to ride the bike on the road again as it's just far more enjoyable riding it on track.

More importantly, now that the bike is back from BMW, I can finish fitting my remaining alpha Racing parts ready for the start of the season.

Cool - glad there are some reasonable firms out there. Who are you with? I may need them.

I'm currently with MCE but once my policy expires I will most likely insure it with a specialist motorsports insurer as the bike will be declared SORN.
 
D.I.D Chain & Renthal Sprockets

I've completed another pre-season task this weekend. I've removed the OEM chain and sprockets and fitted a 520 pitch D.I.D race chain from alpha Racing and Renthal sprockets from B&C Express. I've ordered a selection of sprockets (Front: 16T, 17T / Rear: 44T, 45T, 46T) so I can alter gearing dependent on the circuit I'm going to. Given that the bolt pattern is different on the HP Forged wheels compared to my BST Carbon Fibre wheels I've had to purchase double the amount of rear sprockets. All in all it gives me freedom of choice for gearing and marginally reduces unsprung weight.

Watch those wheels with bead breakers. I ran BST's on my K8, scared the crap out of me at tyre changing time.
 
I had a knife under the fitters testicles when he changed tyres on my carbon wheels. He hurts my rims i cut his plums lol
 
BST Carbon Fibre Wheels

My tyre fitter is someone who I trust implicitly as he used to do a lot of work on my race bikes. Fortunately he's used to mounting tyres on BST carbon fibre wheels.

After a bit of a hiatus I've finally found time to fit a few more of the parts from my alpha Racing order...
 
alpha Racing Oil Filler Plug Kit

Whilst lock wiring various parts on the bike is not required for trackdays, I've added this for a bit of additional safety in the event of an 'off'.
 
alpha Racing 46mm Front Fork Stroke Indicator

This came free with my last alpha Racing order and whilst a tie wrap will normally suffice this looks a tad more professional. The bike has both front and rear potentiometers fitted to record suspension travel data but this just provides a good visual indicator of front fork stroke and bottoming when making adjustments.
 
alpha Racing Chain Failure Guard Kit

I always remove the OEM front sprocket cover and chain guard on bikes that I intend to only use on track or race as they are not required. It just helps to save a bit of time when changing sprockets and removing the rear wheel as there are a few less parts to remove which hinders progress. What I have opted to fit is an alpha Racing Chain Failure Guard Kit. This kit should protect the crankcase in the extremely unlikely event of chain failure and it also prevents chain slack.

There is an OEM guard behind the front sprocket cover but the alpha Racing version appears to be far more robust. It also extends much further down the length of the chain towards the frame.
 
Look cool that. I went over to race shift on the K8 for 3 years only to go back to road shift on the BM.

Thanks. I'm slowly working through my box of new race parts in an effort to get everything fitted before the start of the trackday season. As for race shift I've always used it on my track and race bikes. Compared to other bikes I've owned previously it's great that the gear shift pattern can be reversed so quickly and easily.
