I'm doing a trackday at Knockhill on Thursday (fingers crossed the weather is dry) so I'm looking for a bit advice on User Mode settings

Do I go for DDC as SLICK or leave it in RACE ? I'll be leaving the DTC at RACE as I'd like some wheelie assist coming out the Knockhill hairpin. I'm not a novice, but not a VR46 either so all advice is very welcome !

DDC Suspension

In User mode, with DDC set to 'Slick', the suspension will feel much stiffer which is ideal for track use. If you select 'Race' the DDC suspension will generally feel softer overall.

If it's greasy then you want to add compliance (softer)...the drier the harder and more stable the platform.

DDC Suspension

Just make sure that prior to making any adjustments to damping, compression or rebound that you have set front and rear preload and calibrated the system. In doing so the DDC system can then calculate accurately how the suspension is reacting giving you the rider the ability to adjust it to suit your needs. The beauty of the DDC system is its simplicity and the speed in which it allows you to make adjustments provided that you have a basic grasp of the concepts of rebound, compression and preload. That and you can also make adjustments quickly to suit track conditions.

The DDC system needs to be setup in each riding mode as the DDC algorithms used are different thereby generating a different response in suspension behaviour and feel. RAIN and SPORT modes have parameters that overall make the bike feel softer in general whereas RACE mode has much more dynamic parameters and generally feels firmer. SLICK mode provides a much harder setup as simply put its designed for racetrack use. When in USER mode you have three choices: 'Sport', 'Race' and 'Slick'. The electronic parameters for each are significantly different but in general the suspension will either feel softer or harder dependant on which option you select. Note however that preload, once adjusted, remains extant throughout all modes unless the bike is behaving in such a way on track that it necessitates a change.
