I have just bought some R&G aero crash bungs and read the instructions which state not to exceed 40Nm torque otherwise damage can occur to the bike !

Question is, the BMW recommended torque setting for the engine mounting bolts is 56Nm, not quite sure which to go with - I guess it's got to be the R&G recommended setting of 40Nm

Anyone fitted these and if so, what did you torque to ?

When I had them fitted to my BMW I torqued them to R&G's recommended setting without issue.

I had no issues whatsoever with the R&G crash protectors. I changed them for the alpha Racing ones as they are specifically designed for track use and have a much lower profile.

Re: alpha Racing Crash Protectors

I've just fitted them and torqued to 40Nm as per instructions. Was a bit nervous as it felt like they were tightening up for ever but I guess it was just the inner tube in the bung compressing before the torque wrench finally clicked !

Are the benefits for the lower profile on the Alpha Racing pure cosmetic or is it the design for track? Question for me is if the Alpha Racing will give me the same protection on the street as the Alpha Racing which I personally think looks better due to the lower profile.

The alpha Racing crash protectors are designed for track use so don't expect them to save anything apart from the frame.
