    Sweating Headgasket - 2013 S1000RR 6,500miles

Just had the bike serviced at Chandlers BMW Portslade. Excellent job as always. Only comment from technician was that it's got a 'sweating' head gasket. I don't put many miles on it at all and it sits in the garage - which gets hot & cold. It was also a bit of a cold morning when I rode down...

White Tyre Lettering - FOR or AGAINST?

New tyre fitted today. Original BT016 made 3224 miles. Still not sure whether I like the white lettering. Previous owner had done it on the bike so thought I'd better do the new rear in keeping with the front. Also added rim stripes. IMG_1181 by Simon Orsborn, on Flickr IMG_1180 by Simon...

    Loose Nuts

I'm a bit annoyed tonight! Here's the thing..... I took the rear wheel off my bike, in readiness for new tyre fitting, only to find that the main axle nut was not torqued up. The chain adjuster lock nuts were not tight and the adjusters were all loose as well. BMW serviced it last October...

Surface rust on chain and looking dry - BEST LUBE?

I use Wurth Dry Chain Lube and apply a little and often, normally after rides when the chain is warm as it supposed to penetrate better. Anyway, got hardly any miles on the bike, and ok it's not seen a load of use in the last few months, but I always get comments that it looks dry or needs...

Luggage carrying capability for the S1000RR

Finally got it sorted. Had been on the lookout for a second cheap rear pillion seat on eBay but they seemed to be changing hands for silly money. Managed to pick one up this week for ?20 - virtually new so seemed a shame to be cutting it up. Here's a few pictures of the fit. I had the same...

    Pre-reflash setup recommendations

Had my 2013 S1000RR for 9 months now and very pleased. It came with various bits so didn't really need for much - carbon, crash protection, styling upgrades etc and a Two Brothers end can. All I've done is fit a slightly smaller number plate and cut the exhaust cat off, replacing with a...

Ordered a Danmoto decat pipe - for 2013 S1000RR: NEED YOUR ADVICE PLEASE

I've been searching a lot and read all previous threads. Can you advise though - who's actually done the install by cutting the header pipes in to the cat box with the whole exhaust in situ on the bike? I've read that some have just hacksawed upwards with a mate or two carefully watching...

    Cut out - 2013 S1000RR

So here's the thing.....had couple of what I can only describe as 'lurches' on the bike since I acquired it in February. It's only got 1000 miles on it. Bit like hitting the rev limiter in that the bike is backing off the power and mainly when changing up in the higher gears e.g. 3rd to 4th...

Pillion Seat - best place for cheap one

I'm after a second hand rear pillion seat to cut up and mount a top box to. Did similar on my old gixxer with great results, as it meant the box was tucked up right behind me rather than hanging out the back on a frame. Those on ebay seem to be asking ?90 plus. Ideas as to where to look?

    Recomendations for de-cat fitter

Got a 2013 S1000RR just recently. If I buy a decat pipe, any recommendations for a fitter in Crawley area - someone that can do the whole lot - cut the downpipes etc. Is there an exhaust flappy valve thing that needs pinning open (like I had done on my gixxer thou K8)? Is a remap essential or...

    Difficulty selecting neutral

.....well, not really difficult but just a bit problematic. At a complete stop, even with light pressure it's going straight from 1st to 2nd. Takes a bit of faffing about. Not as easy as my old gixxer box. I tend to select neutral rolling to a stop, when I know I'm gonna be stopped for a...

    Miles per gallon

S1000RR 2013, sport mode, standard unleaded fuel, brim-to-brim calculation got 118miles equating to 36mpg. Bikes got 1,200 miles on it. Medium to fast road riding but not fully wringing it out on this tank. Does that sound about right? Does it change much as you put more miles on the bike?

    New (2013) S1000RR in red

Here she is. Part-ex'd the old GSXR1000K8 for her 3 weeks ago. Only had 800 miles but I've doubled that since.

    Hello All - I'VE GOT ONE !!

Just bought a 2013 S1000RR in red. 800miles on the clock and at least an inch of unused chicken strip each side on the rear! Why do people buy a bike like this then not ride it? Anyway, here's my biking history over the last 25 years: GPZ500 CBR600 GSXR750 SRAD GSXR750 K3 GSXR750 K8 KTM...
