HIDS run cooler, despite the brightness increase, so if you put in a 35w HID then you should never craze the headlight. But always carry a spare standard bulb in case the HID packs up.

35w, Canbus, H7R for reflector type.

Usually in line plug n play.
Seating the ballast is usually the trickiest part...i went for inside the left hand nose fairing using 3M velcro

Right down the throat of the beast !..

No real problems removing the nose cone, held on with 4 x 25 Torx , 4 x Allens and 4 M6 Mirror Nylocks... 2 Block connectors with slide clips for the lights... don't you just love those Krauts...

Surroundings will get a wipe down...I'll also need to check through the fixings...some of the rubber finger mounts have seen better days...

The Winglet locating holes disintegrated when I removed them... rubbers are also ******... Soofs kindly sent me some replacements when I reassemble...

All looking ok so far... no doubt I'll end up with some of my .."comfy nuts"...when I reassemble

What's that bit in the nose? The BMW badged black lump that goes under the air intake? That's unique to the HP4.

Swapped over that nose cone... not difficult just time consuming... swapped over the lamps too. Think I'll buy into the LEDs after I finish everything off... I'll fit the mirrors and screen after the side panels and belly pan is on....

Can I ask why you're replacing all the fairings? And are they BMW parts or after-market?

Either way looking good and interesting read, cheers

Stuart, if you go down the HiD route I'll take some photos of mine for you, it was neatly put together by a handsome young chap with long hair.

For your info, mines doesn't have that black cover on the LHS of the engine and its definitely not OEM fitted.

Heres the link for the indicators, they are fitted to my blue and red panels, I glue them in with Stixall so have to buy a pair for each set of fairings. Must get round to fitting them to the pink ones.
