going to replace the chain and rear with 525 just want to know if i need a new front.

525 by 17 front, 44 rear on early bikes, updated to 17 front, 45 rear on later models.
I run 16 front, 45 rear, some even run a 46 rear.
If replacing chain due to wear then likelihood is sprockets will be worn too.

First gear is too high on the stock S1000rr.
I was considering dropping a tooth on the front sprocket.
When crawling round town at really slow speeds, balancing and trying to not put a foot down, the stock gearing makes the bike sound awful as its on the edge of a stall.

I've just ordered new chain and sprockets , bought a 16 &17 tooth for the front so gonna see which one I prefer

And you said the front end is too twitchy on the track already, you'll have fun trying to keep the front wheel down coming out of corners lol. Let us know how you get on mate.
