Hi Guys,

I need to set up a charger on my bike, pref ignition operated, just wanted to get a idea of products or Frankenstein's you lot have got to keep your peripherals working while on long journeys. I have herd of the plug on the left of the bike which is used for charging, will this work:

I have a 2010 non sport?

seems cheap for what it is also how many Amps does it draw, will it drain bat if its left with nothing plugged in (sounds simple but I have read on .com that it might??)

Thanks in advance...

it will only draw 1 amp and it will only drain battery if its live and you leave something plugged in
but if its wired into the harness its probably only live when the ignition is on

I have one on my VFR1200 which has two sockets, I wired it through the ignition, it charges
my iphone and sat nav whilst touring

Gaffa do you know if the link I provided will do what I need?

If you have an optimate cable attached to your bikes battery this plugs straight in and gives you 2.1 amps. It will automatically cut the power if it recognises your battery is getting low. I have been testing these for a few months now in preparation of a 3 month adventure and this is one my chosen devices. You can get them for as little as ?13 if you shop around ebay etc.
I have tried to leave it charging over night to see if I could kill my battery but it does what it says on the tin.
