Hi everyone, Happy New year [emoji51]. I'm in the market for new rubber, what's the consensus ATM
I currently run Metzeler Racetec and I'm suitably impressed with them [emoji106]

Happy New Year Ian [emoji4]

How about Metzeler M7RR?s or Pirelli Rosso 3?s? They?re excellent 4 season road tyres.
Either would be far more suitable for this time of year.

I?ve been using the Metzeler RoadTech 01?s through the Autumn/Winter and think they?re a great option too. In fact, they?re arguably one of the best wet/cold weather tyres available right now.
However, they?re more touring biased than the above suggestions and only available in 190/55 profiles, which can be frustrating

I'd highly recommend Super Corsas SP for all year round.

On a serious note I hear Mt7rr's are really good

Hi Oli, actually I should have said these are strictly for summer use, I thought I'd get a decent price buying now. Are the Michelin equivalent to the Rosso any good?

Just for summer use then I would actually say Supercorsas, Possibly the best on a dry warm day

No worries, that makes it easier, sort of lol [emoji6]

You could either stick with Racetec RR?s, SuperCorsa SP?s, Michelin Power RS?s etc.
Or, you might like to consider something a little more road biased like the Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2 or Bridgestone S21.

I don?t really have any current experience with Michelin tyres, except for the Pilot Road 4?s (which I wasn?t particularly keen on).
@alex has more experience with Michelin, specifically the Power RS I believe.

Will you be doing any track days in the Summer, or exclusively road riding? If the former, I?d personally try the Rosso Cora 2?s as they seem spot on, though I have no personal experience with them ...
If the latter, then I?d stick with a hyper sport option (which is what you?re already accustomed to)

UK + Dry...happens all the time!
Michelin Power RS very good, no surprises.

Because I like the Dunlop 212?s so much, on track, I want to try the Dunlop SportSmart 2?s next. Although I know folk that run the DOT D212 Racer as a road tyre too if you want extreme like a Pirelli SP.

Metzeler M7RR and Pirelli Rosso 3?s are virtually the same.

Metz Racetec RR K3?s are great in dry weather.

Can?t really buy a bad tyre.

I?m on Conti SA3?s atm

I've not tried a track day, I absolutely know I should do one, I'm probably afraid I'll either make an ass of myself and or bin it [emoji23] I can categorically say I absolutely love this bike, its quite simply AMAZING [emoji106]

I?ve replaced the factory fitted metzeler rr?s with Dunlop sport smart 2 max.
I?m really impressed so far, they warm up quicker than the older sport smart 2 and feel so planted in wet weather riding I had to slow down!
I wouldn?t use them on track tho, slicks all the way. There?s not a bad tyre choice but I?d go for a more recently developed tyre as you?d be getting the best tech. Hope this is helpful lads.
Take care Shaun

Hi Shaun, thanks for the information and advice, so many excellent points to ponder. I have to admit my wet weather riding days have long gone, unless I get caught out [emoji51] I'd still have to say the Racetec feel superb in wet dampish conditions. Any idea how well the Racetec wear against the Dunlops?

Racetec RR K3 will wear out before the SportSmarts. They have a slightly different target market. SS being more road biased.

Hi Ian, not keen on having the bike out in the wet myself but have been caught out a few times. I too was really happy with the rr?s but I only got about 1800 miles out of them until they started to flat off. I?ve done an additional 1200 on the Dunlop?s and they look practically new.
I have the benefit of a tyre machine that a few of us lads went in on so swapping them for track days is no issue and saves on the penny?s. It?s a hard choice as lots of different people have there own opinions or pre conceived views on what?s best. If you were happy with the rr?s then another pair sounds favourite. Take care, I hope the beast from the east hasn?t caused everyone too many problems.[emoji106]
